วันนี้(6ต.ค.)ผู้สื่อข่าวรายงานว่า ฮังการีประกาศภาวะฉุกเฉินในบางเขตเมื่อวันอังคารหลังจากเกิดอุบัติเหตุ จากสารเคมีครั้งร้ายแรงสุดในประเทศ เพราะกำแพงอ่างเก็บน้ำเสียของโรงงานผลิตอะลูมิเนียมแห่งหนึ่งในเมืองอัจคา ทางตะวันตกของฮังการี เกิดพังทลายเมื่อบ่ายวันจันทร์ ทำให้เกิดโคลนพิษปริมาณ 1 ล้านลูกบาศก์เมตร ไหลเข้าท่วมหมู่บ้าน 7 แห่ง ทำให้มีผู้เสียชีวิตแล้ว 4 คน และ บาดเจ็บ 120 คน ซึ่งในจำนวนนี้

สาหัส 8 คน และสูญหาย 6 คน ทำให้คาดว่ายอดผู้เสียชีวิตจะเพิ่มสูงกว่านี้ เหตุที่เกิดขึ้นทิ้งร่องรอยความเสียหายต่อพืชผักทั้งหมดมากกว่าต้นไม้ และไหลเข้าท่วมบ้านเรือนทำให้ราษฎรที่ต้องอพยพหนีไม่รู้ว่าเมื่อไรจะกลับ เข้าบ้านได้ หลังจากกระแสโคลนสูง 2 เมตรทำให้รถยนต์พากันพลิกคว่ำ กวาดเอาทรัพย์สินต่างๆหายไป รวมทั้งทิ้งไว้ซึ่งความวิตกเกี่ยวกับปัญหาด้านมลภาวะ ที่กลัวกันว่าอาจจะไปถึงแม่น้ำดานูบ แม่น้ำสายใหญ่สุดอันดับ 2 ของยุโรป เพราะมีพื้นที่ได้รับผลกระทบกว้างถึง 40 ตารางกิโลเมตร และโคลนพิษบางส่วนได้รั่วไหลลงแม่น้ำมาร์คัล ซึ่งต่อเชื่อมกับแม่น้ำราบาและดานูบแล้ว คาดว่าจะไปถึงแม่น้ำดานูบภายใน 4-5 วันนี้

นายซานดอร์ ปินเตอร์ รัฐมนตรีมหาดไทยกล่าวว่า จนถึงปัจจุบัน ยังไม่มีภัยคุกคามต่อน้ำดื่มในแถบนั้น แต่ก็เตือนให้ประชาชนไม่ให้กินอาหารที่ผลิตในบ้านเรือนแถบนั้นในช่วงนี้ พร้อมเตือนว่าโคลนพิษอาจทำให้ผิวหนังไหม้และทำให้ตาบอดได้หากเข้าตา ขณะที่โซลตัน อิลเลส รัฐมนตรีสภาพแวดล้อม ผู้ไปตรวจพื้นที่เกิดเหตุเมื่อวันอังคาร บอกว่าเป็นหายนะภัยทางนิเวศน์วิทยา และเป็นอุบัติเหตุจากสารเคมีครั้งร้ายแรงสุดในประเทศ

ผู้ เสียชีวิตรวมทั้งเด็ก 2 คน วัย 1 ขวบกับ 3 ขวบ กับผู้ชายวัย 35 ปีที่รถพลิกคว่ำเพราะกระแสโคลนและสตรีชราผู้เสียชีวิตในบ้านของเธอ จากโคลนพิษสีแดงที่มีสภาพเป็นสารกัมมันตภาพรังสีเล็กน้อย มีฤทธิ์กัดกร่อนสูง และประกอบด้วยโลหะหนักเช่น ตะกั่ว แคดเมี่ยม สารหนู และโครเมี่ยม

people were killed and 120 were injured after the dam to a 'sludge reservoir' of an aluminium smelting factory burst and flooded three villages with toxic mud.

Among the dead was a three-month-old baby from the village of Kolontar, western Hungary, where a school was evacuatedm while more than 400 households were affected in the neighbouring village of Devecser.

Seven people are still missing and 90 people have so far been treated in hospital for chemical burns after the toxic flood surged through three villages.

The National Disaster Unit was last night considering whether to totally evacuate the affected areas.

Gyorgy Bakos, a county disaster-control spokesman, said about 600,000-700,000 cubic metres of the poisonous sludge had spilled from the reservoir.

The chemical infused in the mud was alumina, used in the smelting of aluminium, and was highly caustic according to Hungarian news outlet www.naplo-online.hu.

Police have launched criminal investigations to clarify why the dam burst at the Ajkai Timfoldgyar Zrt plant, owned by MAL Zrt, in the region 100 miles west of Budapest.

No representatives of the factory or company were immediately available to comment.
